With a growing community interest in sustainable waste management, Revelstoke Community Compost is a project that aims to divest food waste from the landfill. There have been many previous attempts at starting a community compost program in town met by various roadblocks. This particular proposal is simple and depending on community support will be up and running by this May.
More about the program:
Revelstoke Community Compost will be a subscription-based non-profit program, paid by households monthly for a weekly pick-up of your food waste. Food waste will be taken to Take to Heart Mill, where it will be composted to eventually produce a high quality product that will be used in the gardens of various community initiatives.
