Are you managing projects but want to learn how more about how to effectively finish on time, on budget, manage your team or stakeholders, or how to use online tools to do a better job? If you answered yes to any of those, you'll want to sign up for this one-day project management workshop on October 26.

Many people filling a project manager role have minimal formal project management training. Wayne Van Damme, Project Management Professional and PMP instructor at Okanagan College, is coming to Revelstoke to teach a one-day workshop on how to be a better project manager. In this workshop, you will learn and practice the critical tools and techniques that have been proven necessary for project management success. This skills-based course provides the practical knowledge, tools and techniques to improve your project quality and performance right away.

This course is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge of today's project management practices. Topics covered include the definition of project management, the role of the project manager and stakeholders, the life cycle and phases of a project, and an overview of current and emerging project management tools and processes.

By the end of this course you'll be able to:

  • - define what a project is, and how projects, programs, and portfolios are selected
  • - identify project management processes and knowledge areas
  • - describe the role, skills, knowledge, and certification of a project manager
  • - demonstrate the basic tools and techniques used in project management

Please register in advance for the project management workshop. Cost is $90 + tax. This event is brought to you by the City of Revelstoke's Tech Strategy and Startup Revelstoke with support from Okanagan College and is part of the Entrepreneur Workshop Series. Please see the Startup Revelstoke events page for full details. Other workshops include Finance for Farmers on October 23, the October Tech Meetup featuring Marloes van Lent on cloud-based accounting software for your business on October 26, and an introduction to blockchain and bitcoin workshop on October 27.
