The Revelstoke Women’s Shelter Society (RWSS) is looking for additional board members! We support and advocate for women and their children fleeing abuse. The shelter is a not-for-profit organisation that is part of the B.C. Society of Transition Houses. It is staffed 24/7 and offers a 30-day stay for women.
Board members and the shelter's Executive Director meet at least seven times a year, for about an hour. Together you set the policy and direction of the Revelstoke shelter.
Our board is made up of a great group of community-minded people with business links in management, law, hospitality and more. Being a board member is an opportunity to give back to the community, contribute to social issues and work with others to make important decisions.
You can choose your commitment level. It may be minimal with attendance at meetings only or you can choose to get more involved with fundraising and events.
We are seeking to recruit four new members. Ideally you have a background or interest in helping vulnerable women and their children and you are over the age of 19. This is a volunteer position with a required membership fee of $5. Men are welcome and encouraged to apply.
In your application, please include:
- your contact details;
- details of any previous board member experience;
- your areas of interest; and
- what you'd like to see your role as for board of the Revelstoke Women’s Shelter Society.
Please submit your application by June 8, 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Positions will be offered before we meet for our Annual General Meeting on July 3.
