Hey tech workers, you're not alone! Come out and meet your fellow tech and knowledge workers for a tech meetup Friday, April 21 at 6pm at the Explorers Society Hotel.
Join other tech workers & entrepreneurs for monthly learning, networking, and drinks (for 19+)! The April tech meetup is hosted by the Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST), so this one is gonna be especially relevant to folks with startups or ideas for new tech businesses who could use some direction.
KAST Executive Director Erin Handy will introduce KAST, their programs and how they help tech entrepreneurs and companies. Then KAST's lead business coach Don Freschi will talk about his role as lead Entrepreneur-in-Residence for KAST's Venture Acceleration business coaching program, and discuss what he does for a living. As co-founder/CEO of Firebird Technologies, Don helped bring millions of R&D dollars to the Kootenays, manage a shareholder exit, develop a new product for international markets, and increase sales from $3-9 million over two years. Don has 20+ years experience in high tech manufacturing, operations, P&L management, sales/marketing, technology development and strategic planning and recently co-founded a new venture, Fenix Advanced Materials, which will be the anchor tenant at KAST’s new Metallurgical Industrial Development Acceleration & Studies (MIDAS) facility in Trail. Don also owns and stars in Sport Fishing on the Fly, and is the General Manager of Community Futures of Greater Trail. He's an all-around fascinating character. Then we're on to networking, snacks and drinks with your peers and colleagues. See who else is doing what you're doing, or who you might be able to help.
This is a great chance to socialize with other Revelstoke tech folks and peers from around the region. See you there! Thanks to KAST for sponsoring food and drinks. And thanks to everyone who came out last month!
If you haven't joined the Revelstoke tech meetup group, consider signing up for updates on all upcoming events. There are already 30 members, and 40 people came out to the first tech meetup! Awesome night of networking.
